Counseling Services

School Counseling Core Curriculum

Classroom Guidance Counseling services are available for every classroom on our campus. Our Comprehensive Counseling Program is carefully planned around Federal, State, and district Each classroom will receive a minimum, but not limited to two lessons per month. The school year's lesson calendar is below and is based on RRISD Counseling department curriculum and state/national standards. Teachers can always request additional lessons on as needed basis to support the students' social and emotional development. Our classroom teachers also implement the Second Step SEL Curriculum daily to promote and develop SEL (Social Emotional Learning) to all our Bulldogs in their classrooms. We are proudly a Capturing Kids' Hearts and Restorative Practices' Campus that supports ALL students' SEL.

Direct Services with students

Responsive Services

Individual Counseling services are available by request and situation urgency. Parents and staff are encouraged to fill out individual counseling google referral form (see link below) student(s) is seen in the order of urgency and request. Please be aware, ethically school counselors are not able to provide clinical therapy in a school setting as this is considered to be outside our scope of practice. However, school counselors can do brief counseling for any social and emotional issues regarding family, peer relations, academics, motivation, and other school related social skills needed to be successful both at home and in school. If a student requires to be seen more consistently (more than 3 or 4 times for the same concern, we as school counselors will refer the child for outside community resources therapy services. In the section located below titled Counseling Resources, outside counseling resources have been provided for additional services. Counseling Referral

Small Group Counseling services are available upon parent, teacher,or staff recommendation. We host our "Lunch and Learn" groups 1X a week. In order for small groups to be productive and effective, number is kept from 3-5 students. We meet with each lunch bunch group for a period of 4-6 weeks. Based on need, we restructure our groups with new students that have been recommended for the next 4-6 week window.

At BBE, we also host the Round Rock High School PALS' program, RRHS Reading Dragons, Education Connection REading Literacy Mentors, and the RRISD Mentor program. At BBE, if recommended by his teacher, your child will meet with a mentor once or twice a week during his or her lunch. During the year, specific topics to form a small groups might include but not limited to Grief group, Divorce group or Friendship group. These more in-depth groups may run for up to 6 weeks and hosted by your BBE School Counselors. If your child is recommended to be part of a lunch bunch, PALS/Mentor program or any of the wonderful support services form our community, or a specific group based on need, a permission slip for parental/guardian consent will be sent home or emailed to you for parental consent. Sign, and/or email form and return to the school counselor with your child.

Indirect Services for Students

SYSTEM SUPPORT

Whereas the three components previously described serve students directly, the Indirect Student Support Services system support component describes services and management activities that indirectly

benefit students. The services include:

  • consultation with teachers;

  • support for the parent education program and community relations efforts;

  • participation in the campus-based school improvement plans and goals;

  • implementation of the state and local standardized testing program;

  • cooperation with relevant research projects; and

  • provision of input from the students' perspective to policy-makers and instructional/ curriculum planners


Management activities are required to assure the delivery of a high quality guidance program. These

activities include

-program development and management;

-counselor staff development;

-community outreach; an

-development of appropriate written policies, procedures and guidelines.


Parents Role in System Support

System Support is defined as work within the system. Thus direct parent roles and responsibilities are not specified. Parents can contribute through volunteer efforts to ensure a collaborative and interactive comprehensive counseling program that provides student services to all students in the learning community.
