Tutorials, Syllabus, etc.

TUTORIALS --- Tuesday afternoons (3:45-4:15)

Advisory --- Tuesday thru Friday

Purpose of Tutorials:

Regular scheduled tutorials are as shown above, however revisions may be necessary due to scheduling conflicts.

 GRADING POLICY:

Students (and parents) are expected to use our Home Access System to keep up with current grades.

Major Grades: 50%          Example: projects, tests

Daily Grades: 50%            Example: classwork, checkpoints, quizzes

Extra Credit:  Students should complete work and attend tutorials within the unit of study.  No extra credit is given in 6th grade Science.

 GRADE MONITORING:

Students (and parents) are expected to use our Home Access System to keep up with grades. It is recommended that parents check grades at least twice a week and students check them daily.  Ms. P's grades are input into Schoology and then synced to HAC. Schoology should always have the most up to date and accurate information.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Work will be taken up by table groups when due. Schoology and Google assignments will be submitted online when and if directed.  Students and parents are expected to use the Home Access System to keep up with current grades, assignments, and missing work.  The student’s daily agenda will always have the most up to date information.  Some days don’t go as planned, so corrections may be made in class on my board.  The on-line agenda will not be updated to reflect any midweek changes, but your student's agenda should.

MAKE-UP WORK

School work IS NOT given in advance of an absence.  When a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to pick up missed assignments.  The time allotted to complete make-up work is set by a district-wide policy: two make-up days are allowed for one day missed and one make-up day is added for each additional day missed.  Any work not turned in within the allotted time will be considered late. Extra time may be allowed in extenuating circumstances.  If an assignment is due on the same day as the student's first absence, no additional time will be given.

The 6th grade policy on late work is as follows:  Class work, homework, and projects will need to be completed in a timely manner.  Late work, including projects, will be penalized 10 points a day. Long-term projects will not receive extensions due to absences.

CORRECTION  & RE-TAKE POLICY

Students have the opportunity to make corrections on assignments (Practices) and checkpoints (quizzes) to bring the grade up to a 70%. It is suggested to do this within 3 days of the grade posting and ALWAYS BEFORE being tested over the material.

Students have the opportunity to re-take tests to bring the grade up to a 70%. Test re-takes are due within 5 days of the grade posting.
