Hi All!

I'm so excited to be a part of your learning this year. This is my first year back teaching 3rd grade. I have previously taught 3rd grade for 4 years. I have also taught 2, 4th, 5th and 8th. So I am looking forward to being a part of a new grade level and awesome team of teachers.

A little about me... Outside of school, I love to spend time with friend (many of which are the amazing teachers at OTE). We enjoy live music and all that Austin has to offer. I enjoy spending time anywhere near and in water. I have visited multiple beaches around the world, and I plan to visit many more! The pool was my favorite spot this summer.

I grew up in a small town near Houston and spent most of my time on ranches. My love for horses began at a very young age. My family consists of 2 brothers, 1 sister, my dad, a mini dachshund, and a horse. I love my animals and definitely feel they are a part of my family! I graduated from the University of Texas with a teaching degree and have been proud to say I have been a teacher for 11 years.

I have a passion for teaching and my students become my family each year. Beyond their academics, I focus on fostering strong social skills and a love for learning that will carry them throughout their lives. By the end of the year, my goal is that they become independent of me and take responsibility for each other and their learning. To foster individual thinking and personal interests, is key to achieving this.

This year is going to be full of opportunities for hands on and learning that will push them to think outside of the box. I enjoy seeing the growth and pride each student gains by taking ownership of what and how much they learn! Many times they help me grow as a teacher and improve my views based on their thoughts and learning styles.
