School Psychologist
A school psychologist supports students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
At Ross School, the psychologist works directly with students to:
identify learning and behavioral challenges that impact student learning
evaluate eligibility for special education services within a multidisciplinary team
provide counseling, instruction, and mentoring for those struggling with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
The school psychologist also works collaboratively with families, teachers, Learning Center specialists and school administrators to:
identify evidenced-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve learning, increase achievement, promote wellness and resilience
reinforce communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management and self-regulation
create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
