COVID-19 Guidance

We’re very excited to be back doing live theater after almost three years off due to the COVID pandemic. Although COVID cases are decreasing and we understand much more about the virus than we did a few years ago, we still want to be transparent about our expectations and protocols around COVID. We know that everyone is affected differently by the virus, and we want you to be able to make an informed choice about your participation. If you have any questions on any of this content, please contact our stage manager (Cameron) at stagemanager@rosetownplayhouse.org.

We also want to note that the expectations and protocols listed below are based on the current situation with COVID. As the virus evolves, we will shift our protocols as needed under the guidance of the CDC, MDH, and other public health experts.

Vaccines and Boosters (if eligible) Required

All staff and participants are required to be vaccinated and boosted to the fullest extent that they are eligible. This means that anyone who is eligible should be vaccinated and boosted.

When offered a role in the show, participants will be asked to show proof of vaccination & booster (if eligible) when accepting the role. This information will be kept private and used only for verification purposes.

Vaccines and boosters are widely available at community vaccination sites, pharmacies, and doctor's offices.

Why a Vaccine Requirement?

At Rosetown Playhouse we’re all about taking care of our community. As we continue to make theater amidst COVID, that means making sure our community stays as healthy as possible while rehearsing and performing. In order to do so, we are requiring all staff and participants to be vaccinated (and boosted, if eligible) for COVID-19 unless they have medical documentation about why they cannot be vaccinated.

We recognize that individuals may have different reasons for whether or not they get vaccinated, and respect the right of each person to make that choice. However, in order to care for members of our community whose health may be at increased risk due to COVID, we need to make sure that those of us who can be vaccinated and boosted are so that we can take care of those at risk. This is just one of the ways we can look out for each other.

Masking

Masking requirements & recommendations continue to evolve as COVID variants change. As a result, we cannot say for certain what masking requirements will be during rehearsals and performances. We will continue to follow CDC guidance in addition to the requirements of any space we are rehearsing in. Participants should be prepared that masks could be required in indoor rehearsal spaces.

At this time, masks are optional in Roseville Area Schools and therefore are optional at our auditions and rehearsals.

If we (or our rehearsal sites) determine that masks are required, we expect that folks will wear a well-fitted mask that covers both your mouth and nose. In such instances, masks may only be removed when drinking water or having a snack on a break. If there are issues with wearing masks properly we will provide respectful reminders. If issues persist, you will not be able to participate in the show. If you have a medical accommodation to wear something other than a mask, please talk to or contact Cameron (stagemanager@rosetownplayhouse.org).

Any cast member who feels more comfortable wearing a mask, regardless of what guidance we implement, is welcome to do so at any time.

If You’re Not Eligible for Vaccine

We recognize that some individuals are not eligible for a vaccine or booster due to a medical condition. Individuals can be exempt from the vaccine/booster requirement if they have documentation from a medical professional that they cannot have the vaccine. This documentation will need to be shared when accepting a role in the show.

When we get closer to performances, we will determine if testing is necessary for those who are not eligible for the vaccine.

What to Do If You’re Not Feeling Well

If you are not feeling well, you should not come to rehearsal. Coming to rehearsal when sick (whether or not it is COVID) is disrespectful to other community members and puts those who may be immunocompromised at risk. If you are not feeling well, we encourage you to get tested for COVID right away.

What to Do If You Test Positive for COVID-19

If you test positive, you will need to notify the stage manager right away. You will be expected to follow the CDC Isolation guidelines and cannot return to rehearsal until your isolation period is complete.

The stage manager will help you identify who you may have been in close contact with while at rehearsal to notify them (a close contact is defined as being closer than 6 feet for 15 minutes or more). We will follow current guidance from MDH/CDC on what actions close contacts need to take, if any. We will always keep your health information to a need-to-know basis and respect your privacy.

Rehearsal Space

We will rehearse indoors and we will not be able to keep 6 feet distance between each other. There may be some options for outdoor rehearsal on some limited occasions, but most of our rehearsal time will be indoors.

Requirements for Audiences

We do not plan to have testing or proof of vaccination requirements for our audience members, nor will we require masking. As always, any audience member is welcome to wear a mask if they feel most comfortable doing so.
