The ACHS Dancers have been working diligently to produce their first ever virtual dance concert. The dancers have been reflecting on their experiences over the past year as adolescents living through a pandemic in the form of movement investigations. They collaboratively choreographed “Coping with Covid'' dances that explore a wide spectrum of material from embodying themes of chaos and isolation, to creating “Toilet Paper Parodies.”

The senior dancers transport the audience back to a time last spring when everyone was on the hunt for the once mundane household product, toilet paper. They utilize toilet paper as a prop to accentuate their movements and tell the tale through their creation of the Toilet Paper Parody.

The freshman dancers collaborated to create a parody that investigates the teacher vs. student perspective of online learning. Considering the struggles we as a community have faced and overcame this year, the ninth grade students felt that the best way to reflect is to bring light to the situation through comedic relief, #Relatable.

The dancers had the opportunity to attend a series of after-school classes with the celebrated Step Dance artist, Emerald Holman. They utilized their developed toolbox of Step Dance movement vocabulary to individually choreograph a stanza of Amanda Gorman's, "The Hill We Climb" poem.
