Dear RAMS Families,
I hope all of you are managing to stay well during these extraordinarily difficult times. We miss our students and our daily RAMS life, and it is hard to believe that we are now in the last month of the school year. May normally brings lots of exciting events, including 8th grade Graduation, Six Flags, awards ceremonies and more. It is heartbreaking that we won't be able to participate in these events this year, but we are still planning on celebrating our students and their hard work virtually. We will be creating a Graduation video for our 8th graders to watch and share with families, and all graduation certificates will be mailed to your homes at the end of the year. Teachers are nominating students for 8th grade Awards and those certificates along with a letter will accompany graduation certificates in the mail. Teachers will also be hosting a zoom meeting for their B1 and B2 classes at the end of May to celebrate CHOICE awards. It is not how we normally do things, but we are making it work!

Espero que todos ustedes se estén manteniendo bien durante estos tiempos extraordinariamente difíciles. Echamos de menos a nuestros estudiantes y nuestra vida diaria en RAMS, y es difícil creer que ahora estemos en el último mes del año escolar. Mayo normalmente trae un montón de eventos emocionantes, incluyendo la graduación del octavo grado, Six Flags, ceremonias de premios y más. Es desgarrador que no podamos realizar estos eventos este año, pero todavía estamos planeando celebrar a nuestros estudiantes y su trabajo y esfuerzo virtualmente. Vamos a crear un video de graduación para que nuestros estudiantes del octavo grado lo vean y lo compartan con sus familias, y todos los certificados de graduación se enviarán por correo a sus hogares al final del año. Los maestros están nominando a los estudiantes para los Reconocimientos del octavo grado y esos certificados junto con una carta acompañarán los certificados de graduación por correo. Los Maestros también organizarán una reunión de zoom para sus clases de 1er y 2do periodo a finales de mayo para celebrar los premios de nuestra visión “CHOICE”. No es como normalmente hacemos las cosas, ¡pero lo estamos haciendo funcionar!

How Do I Contact Someone at RAMS?:
While the office and school are closed right now, you can still call the office and leave a voicemail. Belen, our Office Manager, is getting voicemails daily and can return your call from her home. If you receive a blocked call, please pick up because it might be her. You can also email Haley Piazza, Principal, at hpiazza@roselandsd.org in English or Spanish, and email any of your child's teachers. The District Office is closed right now as well.

What should my child be doing for school right now?
Students should no longer be working on paper packets. All work is now online. Students should be checking their email and google classroom every day, Monday-Friday, and teachers have assigned about 2 hours of work a day. Teachers are also hosting zoom meetings 1-2 times a week, where they help students with their work and check in. These zoom meetings are a great way for students to see their classmates and teachers and get help on any of the assignments. We want all students attending each Zoom meeting.
Students should be reading a book of their choice at least 30 minutes a day.

Los estudiantes ya no deberían de trabajar en los paquetes de papel. Todo el trabajo ya está en línea. Los estudiantes deben revisar su correo electrónico y “Google Classroom” todos los días, de lunes a viernes, y los maestros han asignado aproximadamente 2 horas de trabajo al día. Los maestros también organizan reuniones de zoom 1-2 veces por semana, donde ayudan a los estudiantes con su trabajo y se registran. Estas reuniones de zoom son una gran manera para que los estudiantes vean a sus compañeros de clase y a sus maestros y obtengan ayuda en cualquiera de los trabajos asignados. Are assignments being graded or turned in?
All assignments have a due date and should be turned in by students online to their teachers. Students know how to do this. Teachers are not grading assignments, but they are reviewing them and marking them as complete or incomplete in the online gradebook. Teachers are also giving students feedback on their work. You still have access to this gradebook, so you can go online and see if your child is turning in their work or not. If you forgot how to do this, please reach out to your child's teacher. Students should be checking this as well. Teachers are marking with a "Y" for yes if the student turned in the assignment, or a "N" for no if they didn't.

Food Distribution:
Food is being distributed to every child 18 years and younger every Monday and Wednesday at Roseland Elementary School from 11am-1pm. Please practice social distancing bring your own bag.

We are pleased to announce that The Food Bank’s Food Pantry will be distributing free food at Roseland Creek Elementary School every Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.. Roseland Creek Elementary School is located at 1683 Burbank Ave., in Santa Rosa.
This free food distribution is available to any person or family in need of food, including any family from Roseland Creek, Roseland, Sheppard, RAMS, RCP or RUP.
The Food Bank will be providing produce and dry or canned goods every Friday through May, and on some Fridays they will also include dairy and protein products.
Food will only be available for pick up by car, van or truck. Automobiles must enter the bus loop in front of the school by traveling southbound on Burbank Ave only, as cars will not be allowed to cross traffic to enter.
