Fellows will receive training from the green balloon fellowship team as well as their employers.
Fellows will participate in three weekend trainings that will include: onboarding to commonly used professional programs (Google Suite and Microsoft Suite); professional habits of work, including giving and receiving feedback and managing time; technology skills, including 3D printing and coding. During this time, fellows will also be engaging in independent learning activities.
During June, fellows will participate in daily training on technical skills, working towards certifications that will be needed for success at their future employers. During this time, fellows will also engage in interviews with employer partners and determine where they will be working.
Fellows will begin working with their employers in July/August.
The exact companies and job roles for the 2022 gbf cohort are still being finalized.
The 2021 cohort was placed at the following companies/roles:
Integrations Fellow | Lucid
Marketing Fellow | Revelry
Shared Services Associate | Entergy
Information Services Team Member | Ochsner
Payroll Associate | SquareButton
Fellows are guaranteed a living wage; all 2021 fellows were paid at least $32,000 annually, in addition to benefits
Transitioning from high school to a full-time job requires fellows to consistently meet high expectations. The commitments of all fellows includes, though is not limited to:
attending all training and onboarding meetings (whole group and individual)
completing all asynchronous training and onboarding activities
working full time (40 hours/week)
providing own transportation to and from work
meeting all expectations of the assigned role
engaging in weekly coaching conversations with the gbf team
Fellows will be primarily supported through regular coaching conversations with their green balloon fellowship coach, and manager/boss at their placement company.
From Day 1, fellows are encouraged to reach out for additional support if they feel it is needed.
Absolutely. Acceptance to the fellowship does not guarantee placement in a job, and so we encourage prospective fellows to explore all options that are of interest to them.
