What We Do
The Role of the Speech and Language Pathologist:
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) help students to develop and improve their communication skills via assessment and treatment. Rondout Valley's SLPs' credentials include a Master's degree in Communication Disorders, Certification of Clinical Competency (CCC) awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a NYS License, and Teacher Certification (TSHH or TSSLD) from the New York State Department of Education .
Students classified by the Committee on Special Education (CSE) may receive Speech Therapy services according to their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Frequency and duration of these services are individually mandated to meet student needs. Goals and objectives of therapy are individually determined based on the student’s current level of functioning. We provide both individual and group therapy within the classroom setting "push-in", as well as traditional "pull-out" services.
