Outlook to Gmail

Romulus Community Schools now have a shorter email address. Yah!!!

New email address is [user name]@romulusk12.org

IMPORTANT NOTES

The NEW email address is a new email account from Google.

Up until July 1st, you could receive email from 2 accounts:

OLD - romulus.k12.mi.us [Microsoft]
NEW - romulusk12.org [Google]

You will ALWAYS be able to log into old email [romulus.k12.mi.us], using old email link, to get old emails.

OLD but important emails can manually be forwarded to the NEW email.
NO, we will not automatically forward all your OLD received emails to the NEW email account.
Personal Outlook contacts will not automatically transfer ~~but can be exported from Outlook and imported to Google Contacts.~~

After July 1st, any email sent to the OLD email [romulus.k12.mi.us] will automatically be forwarded to the NEW email [romulusk12.org].

Before July 1st, all RCS staff NEEDS to log into their new Google account at least once.

NO other Google service will be effected, all Google Drive files will still be there. The use of the NEW email address to log in is required once we make new email address active.

The following steps need to be completed to use G-Suite for Education products via Romulus Community Schools

STEP 1:

*Read all directions first. Helpful videos at end of steps.

If you are already signed into Google (or the Chrome web browser) with your @romulus.k12.mi.us account, you will need to log out.

If you are NOT logged into Google (or the Chrome web browser) you can skip to Step 2.

To sign out of Google:

Open a new tab in your web browser or go to www.google.com to easily sign out.

To sign out of Google Chrome:

On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More button and then Settings.
At the top, under "People," click Sign out.
Confirm by clicking Sign out.

Step 2

Sign into Google (or the Chrome web browser) with your new RCS email.

On your computer, open Chrome.
In the address bar, type in www.google.com.
At the top right, select the blue Sign in button.

4. Use the new RCS email address [user name]@romulusk12.org to sign in.

5. You will be directed to OLD log in screen. Up until July 1st, you will need to log in with OLD email address [user name]@romulus.k12.mi.us at this screen only.

After July 1st, this will no longer appear.

Step 3:

Access Gmail.

Open a new Google Chrome tab in your web browser or go to www.google.com and select Mail in upright hand corner of web page.

Or, just go to www.gmail.com.

Apply new Gmail update instead of waiting.
