Laptop Expectations

Shalom College BYO laptops must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Device Choice – Macbook or Laptop

  • CPU - Depends on the software required. The more powerful the applications, the more powerful the CPU may need to be.

  • RAM - Depends on the software required. The more powerful the applications, the more RAM maybe required.

• Operating system

  • OSX – 10.10, 10.11

  • Windows – 8 or 10 (Windows 10 Education Edition recommended)

• Screen size – 11.6” – 15”

• Battery life – 8 hours

• Screen Mirror Support

  • Macbook – Airplay support

  • Laptop – Miracast support (Supported by Windows 8 & 10, Laptop hardware needs to also support wireless display)

• A strong supportive case

• Required Software – Purchase of all curriculum required software for selected classes

• Limited Shalom IT support and network access

Please be aware that BYO laptops do not have access to printing at the college and we are unable to install College licensed software onto BYO devices.
