To enrol your child in Instrumental Music
Percussion - Monday
Continuing Strings - Monday morning and Wednesday
Beginner Strings - Friday
Brass and Woodwind - Friday
Students in Years 3 - 6 are given the opportunity to particate in the strings program learning the violin, viola, cello or double bass. The string program is taught by Mrs Bridie Perry.
Students in Years 4 - 6 are not only able to learn the above string instruments but also learn flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, percussion and more. The band program is under the direction of Ms Selena Rasmussen with percussion specialist Ms Mackenzie Roberts.
The enrolment of your child includes a weekly lesson (minimum of 8 per term) and membership to an age and level appropriate ensemble when ready.
FEES
Private one on one lessons - $240 per term
Group Lessons - $110 per term
Instrument Hire - $70 per term
St Mary's String Ensemble rehearses every Wednesday at 8am. Students are asked to join the ensemble once they have progressed to a sufficient level to be able to play the repertoire.
St Mary's Concert Band is mainly comprised of Year 5 and 6 students with some Year 4 students being invited to join once they have progressed to a sufficient level to be able to play the repertoire.
The Concert Band and String Ensemble visits Shalom College throughout the year to participate in workshops and take advantage of their state of the art facilities and team of specialist instrumental music teachers.
These workshops provide a wonderful opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the school, staff and students of Shalom while learning new music, participating in specialist lessons and performing in the Theatre.
There is NO additional fees involved with these workshops or any other local performance or competition.
St Mary's band/ensemble uniform consists of a special music polo shirt with school shorts/and black leather school shoes.
