School Psychologist: School psychologists collaborate with teachers, administrators, families and community resources to create a supportive environment for students. School psychologists provide counseling to students who require support in managing social, emotional, and mental-health/behavioral difficulties that interfere with school performance. Psychologists evaluate students to identify learning differences or disabilities, and to identify areas in which students may need additional support. In addition, school psychologists serve as integral members of the Committee on Special Education (CSE), Sub-Committee on Special Education (SCSE), 504 Committee, Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Crisis Response Team. School psychologists work to foster a safe and supportive learning environment by holistically addressing student needs.
School Social Worker: School social work is a specialized area of practice within the broad field of the social work profession. School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic and classroom support. They provide consultation with teachers, parents and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, parent education and prevention. School social workers are instrumental in furthering the mission of the school which is to provide a setting for teaching, learning, and for the attainment of competence and confidence.
School Counselor: Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling services are available to all students in Rocky Point UFSD. A school counselor’s role is central to the success of students. School counselors support students through individual and group counseling, college and career exploration instruction, assistance in crisis situations, and referrals to school social workers, school psychologists or other professionals when specialized interventions are required for student success in school.
