Field day is for all grades and runs all day rain or shine.
We are hoping to have another successful field day with the help of our parent volunteers of course! We need as many parent volunteers as possible.
There will be two shifts available for parents to volunteer for:
(Feel free to volunteer for both shifts.)
Shift 1: 8:45-12:00pm
Shift 2: 11:15-2:30pm
PLEASE ARRIVE 10 minutes before your shift begins to allow for parking and check-in at the parent table.
Frequently Asked Questions:
I signed up but forgot the time I signed up for...
No Problem, just arrive to school and check in at parent volunteer table. They will be able to assist you with this.
I signed up to volunteer for field day, now what?
Once you completed your form and returned it to school, just show up on Field Day at the time you have chosen to volunteer. There will be a parent sign-in table at the main entrance of the school. You will receive your assignment and detailed instructions.
Is there a deadline to hand in a parent volunteer form?
You MUST complete a FD parent volunteer form and return it to school. All forms must be returned to the main office no later than May 1st in order to participate.
Will I see my child if I volunteered for field day?
There is no guarantee that your child will rotate through your activity during the time you volunteered for. The best way to see your child is to volunteer for one shift and use the other shift to witness your child taking part in all the fun!
Is there a rain date?
Field Day is rain or Shine!
I would like to volunteer for a shift, but I have a small child that is not enrolled in the school. Can I still sign up to volunteer and bring them with me?
Unfortunately, all parent volunteers are assigned an activity to run for our students which makes it difficult to have a little one to watch. You are more than welcome to come and enjoy the day without volunteering.
I am unable to volunteer but can my child's grandparent volunteer or older sibling volunteer?
Of Course! The more help the merrier! Please note some activities involve physical activity and standing. There are activities that are outside (weather permitting). Older siblings are welcomed to volunteer but must be over the age of 18 to do so.
Is there anything I need to bring with me when I come to volunteer?
Nope! Please dress comfortable. You will be on your feet outdoors. Sunscreen would be best to apply before coming. Water will be provided for you throughout the day. If YOU (parent) signed up for both shifts, please bring a lunch.
I volunteered for field day but I need to switch my shift, how should I do this?
No problem! Just show up and check-in at the parent table.
Is there anything my child needs to be prepared for on the day of field day?
It is important to know your child will be outside for most of the day despite some indoor activities. Applying sunscreen to your child before they come to school is strongly recommended. All students need to have sneakers on in order to participate. Students will be traveling around to approx. 15-16 activities throughout the day, students should dress in comfortable clothing that will allow them to participate in physical activities.
I heard in the past, sometimes students need to wear something specific for field day - is this true?
Each year brings a different twist and theme with field day. Every year is completely different. Unless notified by your child's homeroom teacher please dress your child in comfortable clothing. For Example: Sometimes teachers request a certain T-shirt color or attire to enhance your child's field day experience. You will be notified, every class is different. However Mrs. Blasi does not require any specific clothing. (Just sneakers and dress for sunny weather)
My child has a medical restriction, will they be able to participate?
All students with a medical restriction from a physician will not be allowed to participate in the physical activities, however there are activities that do not require physical activity in which they will be able to participate in. Please note for safety reasons only a physician can clear a medical restriction. Our school nurse, P.E. teacher and H.R. teacher will be notified of such.
I have a question that is not on this FAQ list, who should I contact to receive an answer to my question?
Me of course, Mrs. Corie Blasi would be the best person to ask in order to receive the most accurate information about Field day. Please feel free to email at: cblasi@rocktwp.net
