Ways to Ensure Appropriate Book Selection:
Contact your child's teacher to discuss your child's reading skills
Ask a librarian at one of the local libraries for assistance
Use the "five-finger test"
Look at our Bookflix pages for recommended titles by grade-level.
Assignment
Students will be required to complete a one-pager for the book they read for this assignment. A one-pager is a single paper display that communicates the reader's takeaways from the text. This can include graphics, illustrations, direct quotes, reflections, etc. The possibilities are endless, and entirely up to the individual student how they design it!
It is recommended to do this handwritten; however, it can be created digitally if you prefer and have the skill set to do so. You can find examples of one-pagers by clicking on the tab "one-pagers" tab.
About me
My name is Lauren Crispino, and I am a sixth grade language arts teacher at Copeland and the articulator for the language arts department.
I have a passion for all things reading and writing and have both taught and provided curricular coaching in grades K-8.
In my spare time I enjoy being with my family right here in White Meadow Lake. I have two daughters, Avery (6) and Sophia (3), and chances are if you visit one of the beaches or parks in Rockaway this summer you'll bump into us!
If you have any questions or concerns about the summer reading over the summer, please feel free to contact me at lcrispino@rocktwp.net.
I look forward to seeing what everyone read while away from CMS!
