Welcome to our grades 3-5 Reading Center!
Meet the Teacher!
I am Mrs. Laura Benkovich. This is my 6th year in the role of Reading Specialist at WPES, and I love it! I will be working with 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students every day in their assigned reading classes. I am excited to give extra support and encouragement to those who need it in a small group setting outside the normal reading time. I have previously taught 3rd grade for two years and 4th grade before that for 10 years at Whitman Post. Previous to that, I taught 5th grade at a school in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota. I have two reading teacher endorsements, a reading specialist K-12 endorsement, and am a certified dyslexic practitioner through Wilson Reading System.
As well as a resource to students and teachers, I am also here to help families encourage their children to become lifelong readers. Students will be keeping an online portfolio at www.seesaw.me I will be sharing log-in information with parents at fall conferences. I will also be adding to this website throughout the year so please check back often. Currently, you can find reading resources that we use in school and other sites that pertain to reading. Please explore the site and let me know if you have any questions or a suggestion on how to make this site a better resource for all of us.
