Students should have the opportunity to learn computer science at every level. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path


The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week which is December 5-11 but you can conduct lessons and unit any time of the year.

  • Hour of Code
    • The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics.
  • Khan Academy
    • Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. They also participate in the Hour of Code and various tutorials and lessons that are engaging for students of all ages
  • Tynker
    • Tynker is Visual programming which allows kids to rapidly transform ideas into actual programs by connecting blocks. The Drag-and-Drop interface makes building games really easy. With over 200 visual blocks that snap into programs, kids can build the most complex games with ease
  • Code Wars
    • CodeWars is a first-class computer programming competition for high school students. CodeWars was hosted on Hewlett-Packard's Houston campus for its first 15 years of existence.
  • Mozilla Thimble
    • Thimble is an online code editor that makes it easy to create and publish your own web pages while learning HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
