Independent Study

Families that have extenuating circumstances may choose to request their child go out on independent study. Independent Study Choice Boards are one way teachers may choose to support students during this time.

Each choice board is tailored to meet the needs of students at their specified grade level and are standards-based. The activities are not trimester, season, or unit specific, so that they can be used at anytime of the year, but are designed to reinforce or extend the learning expected at that grade level. Each board is designed to address the academic needs of a student for approximately five days. Additional boards are provided for families that choose to be out for additional time, up to three weeks.
