Daily Agenda & Assignments

Our Daily Class Agenda is arranged so the most recent date is the top slide. To see past agenda entries, scroll down or advance through the slides to find the desired date. This is an excellent way to determine work that was missed due to an absence!

HOMEWORK

Homework  reinforces what is learned at school and instills good work habits. Assignments are generally begun (and often completed) in class, which means students should always know the directions of their assignments when working on them at home.

Students in 6th grade should work on written homework for no more than 60 minutes each night, Monday through Thursday. They should also read for 20 minutes each night (more if there is little or no written work to be done). If you feel that your child is spending too much or too little time on their assignments, please let me know so I can work with your child toward a solution.

Although there will likely be homework over the weekends, usually in the form of long-term projects or work not completed in class (typically math), the goal will be to minimize the impact on time spent with family and friends.

You can help your child with their work at home by ensuring they have a quiet area to study, free of distractions, and of course, help them stay on top of long-term projects!   There are many online homework helps as well, especially for math.

A NOTE REGARDING STUDY GUIDES AND TEST PREPARATION:

We provide study guides for most tests, which give the students a preview of the types of questions they can expect on the test, and usually include the prompt for any essay component of the test, as well.  Students are allowed to create a rough draft of the essay prompt and bring it with them to class; they will write the final draft during the testing session.  You can help your child carefully read through the study guide and discuss their understanding of the prompt and their planned response.

For Social Studies and Science tests, students are allowed to create a single page of notes (2-sided) that they can use during the test.  The notes can be hand-written or typed (any size font!), but they can NOT be copied from someone else -- it must be original work created by the student and must fit on one sheet of paper.  Some of the items students should consider including on their sheet of notes:

Check academic progress ("grades") on our Google Classroom.  Parents, please accept the invitation to join GC so you can receive guardian summaries and monitor your child's scores.
