Arc / Op Shop – (540) 437-9214 – www.hrarc.org ; The Arc of Harrisonburg/Rockingham is a membership organization providing information and advocacy for children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. The Arc Op Shop is a licensed day support for adults.
Blue Ridge Disability Services Board (BRDSB) – (540) 245-5028 – www.co.augusta.va.us/BRDSB/mainpage.htm
BRDSB provides input to state agencies on needs and priorities of people with physical and sensory disabilities, acts as a referral to local governments on the Americans with Disabilities Act & provides assistance to local governments.
C.C. & Associates – (540) 430-3256 ; C.C. & Associates provides in-home residential support and community-based day support. The majority of the clients access services with a Medicaid Waiver.
Crossing Creeks – (540) 740-4500 (residential program) – www.crossingcreeks.org ; Crossing Creeks is a community that fosters recovery for persons with mental illness throught residential rehabilitation and vocational services on a farm near New Market.
Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) – (540) 332-7729; 1-800-622-2155 – www.vdbvi.org ; DBVI provides specialized training programs and services to assist persons of any age who are blind or visually impaired in achieving their maximum level of independent functioning in all aspects of life (school, home, work, etc.)
Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DDHH) – (540) 332-9993 – www.vddhh.org ; DDHH provides services to reduce and, ultimately, eliminate the communication barriers between persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who are hearing.
Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) – (540) 434-5981 – www.vadrs.org ; In partnership with people with disabilities and their families the Virginia Department of Rehabilitation Services assists individuals in getting ready for, finding and keeping a job.
Department of Social Services (DSS) – (540) 574-5100 – www.dss.state.va.us ; Harrisonburg Rockingham Social Services District provides a variety of programs and services to assist individuals and families in the community. Anyone with a need for food, financial, medical, daycare, child or adult protective services should contact the agency.

Friendship Industries, Inc. – (540) 434-9586 – www.friendship-industries.com ; Friendship provides employment, and job placement for persons of all abilities, offering both on-site and off-site work experiences. Transportation is available.
Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Services Board (CSB) – (540) 434-1941 – www.hrcsb.org ; CSB provides a variety of services for individuals living with mental illness, mental retardation, or drug and alcohol abuse. Case management, counseling, residential support, and medication management are some of the available services.
Harrisonburg Transit – (540) 432-0492 – www.hdpt.com ; Harrisonburg Transit provides lift-equipped buses as well as a curb to curb paratransit option.
National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) – www.nami.org ; NAMI promotes the interests of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness and their families. The local chapter hosts meetings for education and support.

Pleasant View, Inc. – (540) 896-8255 – www.pleasantview-inc.org ; Pleasant View provides housing, residential support, structured day programs, supported employment, and community access programs to people with mental retardation. The majority of the clients access services through a Medicaid Waiver.
Rockingham County Transportation – (540) 432-8646 – www.ridecart.org ; Rockingham County Transportation provides specialized transportation for individuals with disabilities within Rockingham County for essential life activities. Generally, a 24-hour advance reservation is required.
Shenandoah Valley Autism Partnership (SVAP) – (540) 289-9206 – www.valleyautism.org ; SVAP prvides traiing and networking opportunities to professionals and families who are interested in supporting persons on the autism spectrum.
Social Security Administration (SSA) – 1-800-772-1213 – www.ssa.gov ; The Social Security Administration provides financial benefits to individuals with disabilities. Call for guidelines and qualifications.
Special Olympics – (540) 433-7475 (Daniel Leake); (540) 828-7211 (Danny Herring) ; Special Olympics provides year-round sporting opportunities for persons who have an intellectual disability (mental retardation or closely related developmental disability.)
Talking Book Center – 1-800-995-6215 – www.talkingbookcenter.org ; Free general library service for anyone unable to use standard print material due to a visual or physical disability. The Talking Book Center lends books and magazines recorded in special format and the necessary player. Materials travel through the mail “postage free.”
Valley Associates for Independent Living, Inc. (VAIL) – (540) 433-6513 – www.govail.org ; VAIL is a non-residential, private, non-profit Center for Independent Living that provides services for people with disabilities. Advocacy, independent living skills training, supported employment, information & referral, peer support, and Developmental Disability Waiver coordination are some of the services provided.
Valley Voice – (540) 568-3811 – www.valleyvoice.org ; Valley Voice is a free service, provided by public radio WMRA, which broadcasts readings of local, regional, and national newspapers, as well as magazines and other periodicals to individuals who have a visual, physical, or processing impairment that keeps them from reading print comfortably.
Virginia Office of Protection & Advocacy (VOPA) – 1-800-552-3962 – www.vopa.state.va.us ; VOPA is a legally-based disability advocacy agency that assists with disability-related issues like abuse, neglect, and discrimination.
Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) – 1-800-345-WWRC (9972) – www.wwrc.virginia.gov ; WWRC provides training and therapy to people with disabilites to enable them to re-enter the work force and live more independently.
