Professional Profile
I grew up in Minot, ND, and graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo (Go Bison!) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Education. After undergrad, I taught English as a Second Language in Cheonan, South Korea, for a year. I earned a Master of Education degree from the College of St. Scholastica in 2022.
I started working at Rockford High School in 2018 and I love to teach both the new generation of Spanish 1 students and the seasoned learners of Español 3 & 4.

Grading
My goal as your teacher is to guide you as you expand your mind through learning Spanish. It is not my intention to reward you or punish you with grades, but to use your grades as a reference for how well you are understanding the material.
You will be graded on the basis of tests, quizzes, projects and in-class work/ homework/ participation. For each unit, there will typically be a quiz, and a project or test. All quizzes and tests will be announced and posted about beforehand and I will post review materials. I will also announce and post due dates for projects on Google Classroom. There will be a cumulative (using all of the knowledge you have so far) project at the end of each semester.
In the event of an absence, the student is responsible for obtaining, completing and turning in the online version of that work on Google Classroom. If you are gone for a school activity, you are expected to make a plan with the teacher to make up assignments or take tests/quizzes you will miss.
No exceptions will be made to the late/makeup policy unless you speak with me in advance to make arrangements for special circumstances.
Participation is critical. Your participation in discussions, readings, and activities is essential to your success in this classroom.
I encourage you to stay knowledgeable about your grade using our online Student Information system, Infinite Campus.
ACADEMIC HONESTY is expected of all students at Rockford High School. Personal responsibility for all academic performance is mandatory. The work that you turn in must be your own. Using a translator does NOT qualify as your own work. Copying a friend's answer/project does NOT qualify as your own work.
The class grade consists of the following:
Classwork (homework, participation, Approaches to Learning skills) 30%
Quizzes, Tests & Projects 70%
Students must receive a “C” or better in each semester of Spanish to continue on.
