Hi there! My name is Jan Hendrickson, and as I begin a new year at Rockford Middle School-Center for Environmental Studies, I find myself feeling incredibly fortunate to be teaching Language Arts 8. Even more exciting is the fact that as a STEM school, I also get to teach and learn with the students OUTside of the classroom!
I grew up on the Iron Range in northern Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Teaching English from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1987. In 2002, I began my journey in the world of Special Education and enrolled in St. Cloud State University's Graduate Program, where I earned a teaching license for Specific Learning Disabilities.
I am proud to have taught in the Rockford Area Schools my entire career, primarily at RMS-CES. Middle school students are a dynamic group of young people who are creative, inquisitive, and busy... I cannot imagine teaching anywhere else!
When I'm not in school, you can find me "in the trees and by the water" up at Birch Lake spending time in the beautiful outdoors with my family.
