Jazz band

The jazz band program at Rockford High School consists of 2 jazz bands........


Jazz Band II is a non-auditioned ensemble which meets 1 day a week on Mondays before school. The ensemble is open to any student that plays the trumpet, saxophone, trombone, percussion, piano, guitar, or bass guitar. Students in Jazz Band II performs at the high school spring jazz concert in May.

Jazz Band I is an auditioned ensemble which meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays before school. The ensemble is by audition only. Openings are shared with high school students in the fall with auditions taking place in November before the jazz season begins. The ensemble is open to students that play the saxophone, trombone, trumpet, percussion, piano, guitar, or bass. Performances for jazz I include the Bemidji State University Jazz Festival, solo/ensemble contests, the Rockford Community Expo, and the high school spring jazz concert in May.
