The Driver's Education Program consists of 2 parts - a classroom part and a behind the wheel course.
The class is offered through RCHS as part of the PE10 Curriculum and is a semester long course taken in the Fall.
Upon completion of the class with a minimum grade of 60 and verification by the instructor of the 36 face-to-face hours, the student will then be eligible to take Behind the Wheel.
Behind the Wheel is currently offered through Rockbridge County Schools, but can also be taken through any private driving school licensed by the DMV.
Behind the Wheel consists of 14 sessions - 7 driving sessions and 7 observation sessions. Students can complete a max of 2 sessions per 24 hour period and are typically scheduled in conjunction with each other.
*Currently, due to Covid, the observation period is waived through the end of the 2020-2021 school calendar year
