Director's Note
From Childhood, I have always been a huge fan of Roald Dahl. I loved getting lost in the stories of Willy Wonka, Witches, The BFG, Matilda and of course James and the Giant Peach. I loved the world he created. His dark, yet comic, moody tales sprinkled with beautifully warm underlying messages were preparing me to be the artist I have become. In my formative years he was shaping my personal artistic aesthetic. Dark and Moody! SO when choosing this year's musical, of course, I leaped at the chance to direct one of my favorite Dahl tales. However, the production has been so much more than just a celebration of a favorite childhood author. In a world full of division and hate, this whimsical story brings an unlikely group together to create a beautiful diverse family. With love, this family conquers hate, division, prejudice and the impossible . . . AND with love, so can we! Sooo . . . Our RU Theatre family invites you into our wacky family to celebrate this quirky author's tale. We hope you love watching it as much as we have loved creating it!
