This is a reader response that was written to show the connection between the book “The
Body” and the given painting.
I decided to choose the second image. There are some reasons why I chose that one. First
of all the red wavy line looks like a river of blood which is the most significant reason why I
chose this image. In the book, I am reading a group of teens are looking for a dead body and
when they found the dead body the author used a lot of imagery to describe that dead body. For
example "There was blood on it, but not a lot" or "There was some dried blood around his mouth
and on his chin, and a wound on the right side of his face.". The second reason why I chose this
image is that the boys traveled a long distance to see the dead body and I think that the red part if
the image looks like a red path. The last reason why I thought this way is that during their long
journey they had lots of problems such as lack of food and the weather conditions. And while
they had those obstacles, their heart probably beat faster. An example quotation to prove my
point is "KA-BLAM God what a wonderful sound it was!"*
