Place two balls down on the free-throw lines. Place one ball at the midpoint of the half-court line.
The players will begin by standing outside of the court.
Once the game starts, all players will enter the court and start playing.
The goal of the game is to be the last person remaining inside the court.
Rules
Whenever a player gets hit by a ball, they are out.
If somebody throws a ball and somebody else catches it, then the thrower is out.
Players cannot move while holding the ball inside the boundary lines. However, players can spin, pivot, and/or step toward their throwing target.
Players who are "out" can get back "in"...they do this by collecting a ball and trying to hit another player who is on the inside.
Players who are out ARE allowed to move with a ball. If you are successful in hitting a player with the ball , then you get to switch spots.
Players who are "out" can also run around the outside of the court and try to tag someone who is standing too close to the edge.
If a player gets tagged, the two players switch spots.
"5 second rule" means a player can't hold onto the ball for longer than 5 seconds.
Four Square is played on a (16 foot x 16 foot) court divided into four smaller (8 foot x 8 foot) squares that meet in the center. The ball is bounced between players in squares until someone makes an error and is eliminated. Eliminated players leave the court, all players advance to fill the empty squares, and a new player joins at the lowest ranked square.
There are two sets of Lines on the court. "Outside Lines" are the outermost edges of the entire playing area (represented in Green), while "Inside Lines" (represented in Red) refer to the Line dividing individual squares of the court that cross in the center.
Inside Lines are “Bad Hits.” If a player hits a ball onto any Inside Line then that player is out.
Outside Lines are in-bounds or “Good Hits.”
If a ball bounces onto any Outside Line, it is still in play.
However, if the ball lands further than the Outside Line, it is Out of Bounds and the player that last hit the ball is eliminated.
The object of the game of Four Square is to eliminate players in higher squares so that you can advance and occupy the highest rank.
During play, players may only hit or strike the ball with their hands. The ball may be hit with open or closed fists in the same manner as official volleyball.
Players may not catch, carry, or hold the ball at any time after the serve or during gameplay.
Each time the ball bounces in a square, the owner of that square must hit the ball into another square. This repeats until a player makes a mistake and is eliminated.
Each time a player is eliminated, that player leaves the court and all players advance to the higher numbered square squares. The lowest ranked square is then filled with a new player. All eliminated players leave the court and wait for their next turn to join in the lowest square.
Serve Requirements:
The ball is always served from the lowest ranked square (Rank/Player 1) to the highest ranked square (King/Queen). The King/Queen must allow the ball to bounce once in their square, then they must hit/strike the ball into another square of his or her choice.
The Server (Rank/Player 1) is allowed only one mistake. If the server hits the ball incorrectly, or fails to hit the ball inbounds, then the server is allowed to take a second serve. The server must drop or bounce the ball and then serve with an underhand motion/strike*.
*Underhand motion/strike: A hit/strike with an open, palm facing up hand.
Players are eliminated for:
Failing to hit the ball into another square
Allowing the ball to bounce more than once in their own square
Hitting the ball out of bounds or onto an Inside Line
Hitting the ball incorrectly, such as holding, catching or carrying
To begin, place different color hula hoops on the floor. Spread them out evenly in the playing area. While the music is playing, the players will move or dance around. So as long as the music is playing, the players must be moving.
But once the music stops, then the players must stop. The teacher will yell out a specific command. For example, "left foot in green". This means that the players must place their left foot in a green hula hoop.
Once the music starts playing again, the players would start moving again. This is a great game to practice different movement skills. For example, galloping, hopping, skipping, running, etc. Utilize knees, fingers, feet, head, etc.
Make a middle line using cones or line markers and then you're going to get everyone into Pairs and have them facing each other across that line
Now one side are labeled the Kangaroos and the other side are the Alligators Everyone gets ready to run and the Teacher Calls a side
If the Teacher Calls kangaroos the kangaroos have to quickly turn and run away to escape from getting tagged by the crocodiles
Then you reset, this time the Teacher Calls crocodiles so the crocodiles quickly react and try to run away
Call out different instructions before calling out kangaroos or crocodiles you can kind of do different things…whatever you want make it creative before they have to quickly run away
Will need hula hoops, balls, and cones.
Start by splitting the playing area into two halves for two teams.
Build three hula hoop castles on both sides.
Place down cones in front of each team's hula hoops to form some zones.
The back zone is going to be for the 'Builders'. The role of the players in this zone is to build the castles once they get knocked over.
In the middle zone is the 'blockers' or the 'Defenders'. They will stop the balls. The remaining players are the 'launchers' who will be throwing the balls to try and knock over the other team's castles.
The players are going to be running around and moving around. They try to throw the balls to knock over those castles.
The rules are as follows: three-minute rounds.
The players must stay in their zones for the entire round.
Every time a castle is knocked down equals one point for the throwing team. It's an automatic win if all three are knocked down at the same time.
Game 2: Balls on the Bases
Distinguish that this is not a team game. There will be only one winner of each round
Each of the four balls are sat on the poly spot located in each team’s base, and all players report to the center of the playing area
At the Go signal, students are allowed to move and touch any colored ball they wish
The ball must be thrown in the air to eliminate players (no bouncing/rolling/tagging)
Players are not allowed to hit the same colored team with the same colored ball. This will result in the thrower being eliminated
