Where to begin...?
I'll start from the very beginning. Before I became a Licensed Psychiatric Technician. I have always worked in the medical/mental health industry in various capacities. I've volunteered in hospitals, convalescent homes, and worked with adults with developmental disabilities; eventually, supporting incarcerated individuals. There was no doubt, from the moment I could talk and tell my dad we needed to help the homeless man at the grocery store, that I was in this life to make a difference.
Yoga came into this life for me briefly in 2007 when I incorporated it into my workout regimen at a gym, which was lovely. But it wasn't until 2014 during a very difficult time, when a friend suggested I try it at a studio, did it become transformative!!!! Not only did it give me the opportunity to slow down, get out of my head, and feel into my body; but, how I felt after that hour was powerful. I could feel the emotional and physical release I needed after every session. I continued to practice on and off for eight years after that, actively seeing the change in my body, but mostly, in my heart. Love grew and transcended the more I practiced and I would notice the difference when I didn't practice. An ex of mine once said, "you're only "good" when you do yoga." He didn't say it as a compliment, but he wasn't completely wrong. We have to do the work to see and feel the rewards of this beautiful practice. And, the more we do it, it begins to transcend into our daily life. The practice of yoga happens on the mat and the power of this practice continues after we step off our mat.
During my 2022 Yoga Teacher Training (200hr), I realized teaching was my new path. My career gifted me many opportunities, financially, but it was pure chaos and an emotional and spiritual fight with "the system" to show up and care for tortured souls who were in an even more tortured environment. I loved my job and I knew I was making a difference every time I stepped onto the tier. But, at what cost to myself?
So, I quit and went "all in." I developed my own website, started my YouTube Channel and began teaching as much as possible. I even went "all in," tackling the fear my mind created and decided to choose what my soul really wanted in this life, selling my home and moving into my van to begin traveling the country. You see, through yoga, I realized I am completely supported by the Universe in whatever endeavor I decide for myself. As long as we're doing what we love, not only does the Universe support us, but our joy when we make these choices for ourselves emanates into everything and everyone around us and beyond. LITERALLY changing the world! That's what yoga did for me. And now, I want to share this amazing knowledge with others. To affect as many people as I can. To give yoga a try and see what transforms for them.
Now, as I continue my own journey, currently working through my 300hr Teacher Training, I continue to see the growth and the limitlessness of the work. There is no end to our growth. It is infinite and boundless. YOU are limitless and boundless.
So, here's an invitation to you. To step out of your comfort zone, try something new, and create the possibility of expanding-whatever that looks like for you. We all have our own path in yoga and we get what we put in. So, let's dive into the "fear" of the unknown--together. To cultivate a new path for yourself you can share with your loved ones, your community, and our world!
Namaste, my friend
