Are you interested in science, technology, engineering, art or mathematics (STEAM)? Otter Valley Tech Ed offers a unique way to explore all of these through our STEAM courses. Each STEAM course will center around a specific topic that students will dive deeply into and learn about the specifics of a topic. This course would offer students a chance to learn about the design build process and the associated skills that go along with that from tool use, to CAD and 3D printing. This year's STEAM course will be a history-meets-application course that is based on one of the most significant discoveries of the last 200 years, the electric motor. This course will explore the Davenport Motor which was built here in Brandon and is recognized as the first electric motor ever built. You will learn about motors and the history of the area, build a small working DC motor and work as part of team to construct a museum exhibit around the technologically important discovery.
