In the fall of 2017, the Red Lion Area School District was presented with a unique opportunity to train staff on student trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and school wide trauma-informed best practices. Through this training, a core team of 20 staff developed a better understanding of the importance of students being emotionally regulated in order for learning to occur. This group of individuals was called the CARES team. CARES stands for Cultivating Achievement by Responding to Emotional needs of Students.
The goal for the Red Lion Area School District is to become trauma informed responsive and ultimately trauma responsive infused. The CARES team is responsible for leading the district in this cultural shift.
The CARES team created this website to educate staff, students, parents, and community members. We welcome any thoughts or feedback.
