Dear Parents and Students currently enrolled in at least one Keystone course,
We are writing to inform you about the upcoming Keystone Exams, which are end-of-course assessments designed to evaluate students’ proficiency in key academic areas. Achieving a Proficient score on the Algebra I, Literature, and Biology Keystone Exams is the most straightforward way to fulfill Pennsylvania’s statewide graduation requirement.
Keystone Algebra Exam:
– Dates: Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12, 2026
Keystone Biology Exam:
– Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026 (Remote Day for Non-Test Takers)
Keystone Literature Exam:
– Dates: Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19, 2026
At RLASHS, our teachers are dedicated to preparing students for these assessments and ensuring they have the support necessary to succeed. We encourage every student to put forth their best effort in reaching their full potential.
Students who receive proficient or advanced on their Keystone exam will have their final exam grade changed to reflect their hard work. If a student scores proficient, they will receive an 85% on their final exam in that course. If a student scores advanced, they will receive a 100% on their final exam. Because scores are not received until summer, students will need to still take their final exams. Whichever grade is higher, their in-class final or their adjusted Keystone final exam score, will be the one that is used for their final exam. Transcripts will be adjusted to reflect this in the fall.
As we continue our commitment to academic success, RLASHS has established a Keystone Remediation course for students who do not pass the exam on their first attempt. Select students, based on scores, who do not achieve proficiency will be automatically enrolled in a remediation program tailored to their individual needs. Participation in remediation will be mandatory and replace early release, late arrival, study halls, and/or elective courses.
Students in the remediation program will be required to retake the Keystone Exam during the Winter 2026 testing session to demonstrate improvement and work toward fulfilling their graduation requirements.
Again, achieving a Proficient score on the Algebra I, Literature, and Biology Keystone Exams is the most straightforward way to fulfill Pennsylvania’s statewide graduation requirement and guarantee the most flexibility in your RLASHS student schedule with eligibility for late arrival and early release.
We appreciate your support and cooperation in ensuring that all students are prepared and safe during this testing period. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please visit our Keystone Testing Website. All bell schedules are also available on the Keystone Testing Website.
