Absent Policy
When you are absent from the classroom,
you are still responsible for all
learning, work and grades.
If you still have questions after reading these absence
procedures & expectation,
then please reach out to Mr. Naylor.
Excused Absence (Sick Day / Quarantine / Trip Excused / Early Dismissal)
If you are physically and mentally capable, it is in your best interest to remotely stay caught up with lectures, assignments and homework even when you are not in the classroom.
Use the posted online assignment calendars to determine each day's topic, view the lecture video, and access the homework. These resources will be identical (or nearly identical) to what is happening in the classroom.
You have the option* of remotely turning in last night's homework (in case it is checked), tonight's homework or an assignment that is due while you are absent. If you do not submit remotely, then simply turn in your work (in person) when you return.
Mini checks & tests will be completed when you return to the classroom. You should reach out to Mr. Naylor before returning to confirm your plan for completing mini checks / tests.
Remember that once you return to the classroom you have 2 days for every day absent to complete assignments and homework. But do not procrastinate and fall behind because we will continue progressing through regular class lessons, assignments and due dates.
*Submitting Work Remotely (Optional)
Simply use a phone document scanner app such Genius Scan or CamScanner to snap a clear picture of your work and convert it to a PDF. (Please rename your PDF's to match the homework or assignment.)
Then email your PDF's to Mr. Naylor. That's it! You will receive the appropriate credit and be ready to roll once you physically return to the classroom.
*Submitting your work remotely is a nice option for students who are physically / mentally capable of keeping up with our classroom learning while at home and who want to keep their grade up-to-date. But it is optional and not required. (If you do not submit your work remotely, you will need to physically turn in your work when you return to the classroom.)
