We competed at the big regional Cal Expo tournament. It was great to play in person against other schools, meet coaches and staff, and kickoff our 2024-2025 season.
Jesus, Kody, and Mason were featured student panelists at the CapCUE educator's conference, and took a range of questions about their long-standing experience in esports. Good luck to our graduating seniors, some of whom intend to compete or coach in college!
We had a great time playing in-person against Woodcreek High School at FireUp in Week 4 of the CIF/NASEF SuperSmash varsity main season. Oakmont was led by Isaac, Mason H., and Matt and went 1-2, while Mason E. and Sage played alongside Woodcreek's JV squad. Shoutout to Coach Bricco for the great photos.

Shoutout to Mrs. Montgomery and the yearbook staff for those great pages, too.
Thank you to Mrs. Brooks and Mr. Gifford for all the tech support they've put into making this possible. Thank you to Mrs. Carmon for allowing us to use her awesome graphics design computer lab after school. The computers are great and it's a nice space to meet in.

Our on-campus SuperSmash tournament was a success. We had 5 Nintendo Switches, a streaming PC, a bracket, and a whole lotta pizza. Good times.
Congrats to Aiden F. for the big win.
Shoutout to Michael H. for managing the bracket, Andrew K. for the pizza run, Ryan F. for taking initiative on so much setup and teardown help, and Mason H. for shoutcasting, in particular.

Rocket League is coming (and will also be free-to-play soon). Here's a test run shoutcast on my new OBS Studio setup for it.
We anticipate both PlayVS and NASEF supporting it throughout the 2020-20201 season.
We entered into a PlayVS Spring 2020 activation contest, the requirements of which were a <2:00 hype video. We thought the norm would be crazy dubstep music, pentakills, and students doing the Reservoir Dogs walk, so here's our take on the genre. Enjoy!
UPDATE: WE WON A GRAND PRIZE! WOOHOO!
FireUp hosted both our Overwatch Ragnarok and Berserker teams as they played their matches against Valencia High School's Blue and Gold teams, respectively. Due to ongoing technical issues with our on-campus computers, that's the first time the teams have had a chance to all play together in the same room.
FireUp has made some amazing progress with construction since we last came. We can't wait until it's completed in full later this year!
Drew Carroll spoke with the club about his experience in the esports industry as a broadcast engineer. He's worked on Twitch Rivals, the Fortnite World Championship, and many other streams, tournaments, and shows. He supports the club learning how to use OBS Studio to record, review, and stream gameplay and encourages students to pursue their esports career goals!
We had the opportunity to get about a third of our members over to FireUp Gaming during our normal Casual Friday hours and beta test the new systems getting installed there. Thank you to Ian and your crew for accommodating us. The quality of the PC's and ambiance of the place is great even while still under construction. We can't wait until it's finished!
Claire LaBeaux conducted a Facebook Live interview in association with Cloud Street, a blogging and influencing community. We were happy to participate in order to help inform parents about the many joys and benefits of esports!
Thank you to all who participated.

Teacher Day is to help inform staff on campus about esports. We talk about our club, scholarship and career opportunities, the benefits of participation, and then get teachers into a game while getting coaching from students.
It was a ton of fun. Thank you to the staff who participated! We'll host a repeat event in the Spring term for those unable to make it this time around.
