Health Career Panel
VT REACH (Virtual Teleconference: Reach, Explore, & Aspire to Careers in Healthcare) is a virtual event that allows students interested in healthcare careers the opportunity to connect with professionals and students from the Larner College of Medicine and UVM Medical Center. Due to COVID-19, the ability of students and mentors to engage in meaningful shadowing experiences has been halted while the need for healthcare professionals has become emphasized. These Zoom teleconferences will reimagine the connection between students and healthcare providers in the Vermont community. Students will hear directly from care providers about their educational and professional journeys, including the challenges and successes they’ve experienced, while also gaining a sense of a typical “day in the life” for different healthcare professionals. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions & make connections at UVM that may potentially allow for shadowing, research, or job opportunities in the future.
The first VT REACH session will take place on March 25th from 7-8:30 pm EST. A panel of six medical students from LCOM will be talking about their journey to and through medical school along with Dr. Nathalie Feldman, the Interim Associate Dean of Admissions at LCOM, who will be discussing what makes a strong candidate for medical school.
Register to receive a zoom invitation for the first session:https://na.eventscloud.com/ereg/index.php?eventid=608972&
Deadline to register for the first event is March 25th by noon.
The second VT REACH session is on April 22nd featuring Dr. Bridget Marroquin and her journey from obstetrics to anesthesiology. More information and how to register for second event will be shared as it becomes available.

Students in grades 10-12 are invited to take this assessment. The ASVAB is an aptitude test that can be used to enlist in the military OR for post-secondary and vocational purposes. Your child does not have to be interested in the military to take this test. In fact, many students take the test to learn about what they are good at. Knowing what you are good at helps you make decisions about college and career paths. There are eight test areas on the ASVAB, and they include: general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge, electronics information, auto and shop information, and mechanical comprehension. Your child’s scores are for his or her information, and will not be released to anyone except me. I will provide your child with his or her scores once I receive them. Someone will return in a few weeks to help our students interpret their scores and lead them through career exploration activities
