Green Bathroom

Enter the small green bathroom. This room functioned as two closets during the Jones era. The Duffs, who purchased the home in 1935, turned the closets into a bathroom the following year. Tarello Tile Company of New Bedford installed a tile floor and metal lathing in the bathroom in January 1936. The New England Plate Glass Company supplied and installed the green Vitrolite glass tiles on the walls, the chrome fixtures, and the mirrors. Vitriol glass is a type of colored glass that is characterized by its distinctive blue-green color. The color is produced by adding copper to the glass mixture during the production process. Vitriol glass was widely used in the medieval period and gained popularity again in the early 20th century.
