Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)

Welcome to the Baysgarth CEIAG Hub!

Here you will find information that you need to help you make decisions around your future, including the right Post-16 pathway for you and your goals.  Whether that is to become a professional footballer, or to train to become a doctor, we aim to provide as much support and guidance to each and every student towards going on to achieve their dream career.

This site also offers information, resources and advice around practical tasks, such as tips on writing a CV and where to go for help around making the next steps after secondary school.

If you have any questions, or need some advice or guidance, please contact Miss Osgar in the first instance, or Mr Bowsley:

CEIAG Lead: Mr Bowsley (jason.bowsley@baysgarthschool.co.uk)

Employability Mentor: Miss Osgar (natalie.osgar@baysgarthschool.co.uk)

Good quality careers education will raise the aspirations of all young people.  It will increase motivation by linking activities in school with preparation for life post 16 and post 18.  CEIAG will therefore contribute to raising pupil achievement, help students focus on their longer-term career ambitions and ensure an equality of opportunity for all.

We provide a comprehensive CEIAG programme to students in every year group through ICE sessions and tutor time activities.  This includes aspects of work related learning, enterprise education, option choices and information surrounding RPA (raising of the participation age).

Most people spend many years of their life in a working environment and it is important to equip our students with the necessary skills for them to plan their career and know how and where to access impartial and unbiased information.

Our Careers programme is developed in consideration of the CBI’s 7 main employability skills.  These key areas are:

Skills Assessment

Before deciding which pathway is correct for you, or even which sector or industry you would like to pursue as your career, we advise that you take a 'Skills Assessment' to determine your area of interest and your current skillset.  You can do this via 'The National Careers Service' website.

By answering a range of questions, the assessment will help you identify the things you like to do or are good at, which will help you when planning what careers you may enjoying working in.
