Air conditioning for comfort and well-being

Modern climate control systems were installed at Roberge and Woodside Elementary Schools, and Holdrum Middle School. Aside from the benefit of greater comfort, the new HVAC systems use the latest ventilation technology to bring fresh air into our classrooms. Air conditioning also provides vital relief for those who suffer from allergies and asthma, and supports students’ ability to focus. Roberge received new classroom unit ventilators and rooftop HVAC units in 2022. The rooftop HVAC units were replaced at Woodside in 2022, and new unit ventilators will be installed in 2024. However, air conditioning was provided at Woodside through the existing ventilators starting in 2023. Air conditioning was installed at Holdrum between May and October 2023.

Holdrum Addition/Wellness
Center and Courtyard

The building addition offers numerous benefits for Holdrum students. The new corridor  improves the flow of students through hallways, and created room for lockers to move out of classrooms. The addition included a Wellness Center and space for small-group instruction. Students have access to healthy activities in the Wellness Center, which also offers a safe place for a mental-health break if needed. The new building configuration created an enclosed courtyard for innovative instruction and quiet study breaks..

Classroom renovations

Classrooms are receiving new floors, ceilings, doors, lighting and sound systems. The renovations also include storage solutions to efficiently contain supplies and free up classroom space. In addition, the nurse’s bathroom at Roberge was expanded to become ADA compliant. Asbestos abatement was included in these projects as a precaution because of the age of the buildings.

Classroom improvements at Roberge were completed by September 2022. Holdrum’s upgrades were finished in the  summer of 2023. Woodside work began in the spring of 2024, and will continue over the summer.
