Lunar Mission: Return to the Moon
Lunar Mission: Return to the Moon
Program Outline and Mission:
It is the mission of the Riverton School District to meet the needs of each child in order to foster learning and develop potential. The Riverton Curriculum Committee has followed both NJ State Code (N.J.A.C. 6A:8-3.1) and gifted program standards established by NAGC in the design and planning for students identified as “gifted” in the middle school. The gifted program includes a three pronged approach to address the needs of “gifted students” in the middle school. Multiple measures are employed to identify gifted students. According to the NJ Department of Education, “gifted and talented students means students who possess or demonstrate high levels of ability in one or more content areas when compared to their chronological peers in the local school district and who require modifications of their educational program if they are to achieve in accordance with their capabilities.measures of ability and achievement.” The school has established criteria for inclusion in the program that recognizes that gifted students may not be gifted in all areas but show advanced ability in at least one content area as compared to their peers and often demonstrate a higher level of analytical, systematic, and creative thinking when compared to students of their chronological age. Riverton strives to meet the needs of these gifted students through 3 levels of enrichment.
General Goals of the 6-8 SEEK Program:

Develop and enhance critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
