What is Riverside Virtual School?

We reimagine education. We recognize that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to imbalances. We make connections. The RVS evolution continues as we reinvent education from the traditional school setting to an unprecedented virtual experience.

We offer daily live virtual instruction through district-issued Chromebooks.  Students follow a bell schedule and can expect to receive similar access to standards-aligned instructional materials, appropriately credentialed teachers, academic and non-academic staff, equipment and internet connectivity to enable them to adequately participate and complete assigned work. In-person community-building events, such as park days, movie nights, and other events ensure that students can build relationships with their peers.

We strive to create a culture of success where the learning experience is personalized and authentic. We will exemplify the best of teacher professional practice and take advantage of technology to provide exceptional learning opportunities. RVS is a unique model; the experience will be different than a traditional school setting. To achieve success, we recognize the importance of building a strong relationship between parents, students, and teachers; therefore, we look forward to our partnership as we create the best possible learning environment.

Riverside Virtual School Family

Learning Agreement:   Education Code requires that a written learning agreement be signed for any child enrolling in a "non-seat-based" program, such as Riverside Virtual School. The parent/guardian and student must sign the agreement before a student begins school. Electronic signatures are permitted. Please complete Section I and both the parent/guardian and your student will sign Section III.

Attendance: Per Education Code, attendance in RVS is reviewed by looking at a combination of factors to ensure that the student is making satisfactory educational progress. A student should log into all live sessions, participate in class, complete all assignments, and complete assessments to demonstrate that they are making satisfactory progress. Students who are not attending class sessions, completing assignments or are not meeting grade level standards will be provided tiered-reengagement support. Continued lack of progress may require a meeting to determine whether or not RVS is the right educational environment for student success.

Transfer to Riverside Virtual School: All students require a district-approved transfer to Riverside Virtual School. Transfers can be obtained through the Pupil Services Department at the Centralized Registration Center at 5700 Arlington Ave. See the links below for more information.
