Riverside Poly Band & Guard Student Leaders are observed from the time they begin participation in the band in order for the director and staff to determine the best leaders for the band and guard.

Lead Poly Band Student Leaders (schedule meetings, prepare agendas, lead rehearsal debriefs)
Represent Poly Band at school-wide events as needed
Plan and coordinate bonding activities
Assist planning and preparation of fundraisers
Communicate with Poly students, boosters and community
Drum Major(s)
Conduct and help shape rehearsals
Call and conduct football games
Start and facilitate rehearsals
Know music (tempos, cues, etc.)
Facilitate effective communication between band director, students and student leaders
Assist with repertoire choices
Assist with marching instruction
Coach peers, as needed
Communicate with Poly Student Leadership
Manage equipment including podiums, metronomes, sound amplification, etc.
Lead field clean up at the end of each rehearsal
Percussion Captains
Liaison between percussion sections and band, drum major and staff
Work with drum major
Assist with repertoire choices
Assist with marching instruction
Know music (tempos, cues, etc.)
Know drill (counts, forms, visuals, etc.)
Tap offs
Organize percussion sectionals

Set up for sectionals

Take minutes at Poly Band Student Leader meetings
Enroll as service worker or dedicate a set time outside of school
Facilitate communication with families and students
Prepare paperwork and seating charts for festivals
Check in the band and submit scores upon arrival at festival

Promptly prepare music for rehearsals
Promptly prepare drill for rehearsals
Request additional copies as needed
Know and maintain the music library

Section Leaders
