Kinoptic art is one picture, assembled from different images, and can be similar in effect to a segmented photomontage.
Note: Your two photos should be the same size to start. If they are not, the following process might not work correctly.
Open your first photo
In the menu go to: Image > Canvas Size
Double the width of the project
In the Anchor section, click the arrow pointing left in order to keep the photo on the left side of the new window.
Press OK
You should end up with a wide photo that has your picture off to the left side.
In the menu go to: View > Guides > New Guide Layout
Change your preset to 24 column (You can then change the number of columns to another number if you would like.)
Change the gutter to 0
Check Clear Existing Guides (if you have existing guides to remove)
Press OK
Now, the picture on the left side should have 12 tall rectangles in it and the empty area on the right side should have 12 as well. In your head number these from left to right 1-24.
In the menu go to: View > Snap to > Guides (This will let your selections snap right to your guide to make it easier)
Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to select rectagle number 12 (the last rectangle with your photo in it)
Switch to the move tool (v) and then drag that selection to rectangle number 23.
Deselect your selection by pressing Command Dm
Do the same thing, moving rectangle number 10 to number 21 and so on until your photo looks like the photo below.
Adding Your 2nd Photograph
Open your 2nd photograph and add guides (this time only 12, or half the amount you did before) and set your snap to guides the same way that you did the first photo.
This time, as you select each column, rather than move them, you'll copy them by pressing command C.
Switch to your other photograph and paste them using command V.
Move the image to the appropriate spot on that document.
