Senior Awards Night will now begin at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 21st, in the MLK HS gym. Earhart Middle School has an awards ceremony the same night - each school has adjusted the start time of our events so parents who have an 8th and 12th grader may attend both events. Thank you!

When: Scheduled for April 30th
Students need their school ID for pick up during lunch, 6th period, if they do not have a 6th, or after school
Students are not able to pick up a cap and gown for anyone else
Parents are not allowed on campus to pick up caps and gowns
If you are absent on 4/30, please see Mrs. Temple in G-121 before school or during 2nd lunch to pick up your cap and gown.
POSTSECONDARY SIGNING DAY!
When: Wednesday, April 30th in the G-Quad
This special event celebrates our graduating seniors and their diverse post-secondary plans.
We invite all seniors to take a well-deserved break from exam preparation and join us for an afternoon of fun activities, recognition, and treats! Whether you're heading to college, joining the military, entering the workforce, starting an apprenticeship, taking a gap year, or pursuing any other path, we want to celebrate YOUR next chapter!
All participating seniors will receive a special treat!
Senior Awards Night
When: May 21st at 6:30 pm in the MLK HS Gym
Students are to arrive by 6:00 pm in their graduation gown (no cap as the tassels are easily lost), along with any other MLK HS Admin or district-approved regalia the graduate has received.
All students are welcome to attend! Those receiving awards will be notified 1-2 weeks before awards night that they are receiving an award, but not the title(s) of the award(s).
Family and friends will sit in the gym bleachers, and graduates will sit in organized rows in the center of the gym.
Handicap seating will be reserved for the front row
ASL seating will also be reserved on the away side of the bleachers (on the left side as you enter). Please look for the signs.
Senior Field Trip - Knott's Berry Farm
When: May 22nd, meet in the stadium by 8:15 am to load the buses.
We will meet back on the bus at Knott's at 6 pm to return to MLK HS.
Knott's is a cash-free park - you must bring a card or use the machines to load cash to a gift card for use at Knott's.
Food, drink, and snacks are not included in the cost of the ticket.
Tickets are on sale in ASB
Buses will be organized on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students must complete the informed K-12 (see Class of 2025 Google Classroom for the link).
Senior Sunset
When: May 27th from 6-7 pm in the stadium.
Celebrate the last sunset before graduation with fellow MLK HS SENIORS! This event is FREE. Seniors will check in (5 Star or school ID required as no underclassmen or guests are allowed entrance) at the main entrance to the football stadium and will hang out in the home stands of the bleachers.
Backpacks, large bags and unopened beverages are not permitted.
Senior Grad-Nite Dance
When: May 27th, 7:00-10:30 pm
After the Senior Sunset in the stadium, join us for the Senior Grad-Nite Dance! The event will take place in the G & F Quads. Dancing, games, food, and more! We will have the In-N-Out truck serving burgers for this event. You don't want to miss out on a FUN evening with your fellow Class of 2025 SENIORS!!
Check-in: Between the G Building and the C-Portable Classrooms
Tickets: $25 - Available online now in the Wolf Store or you may purchase a ticket with Mrs. Balsells at her ASB window.
If you purchased a senior package at registration, you have a ticket for this event.
Notable Info:
You will re-check in from the stadium to the event as the Dance requires a ticket.
Students will be searched prior to entrance to the event.
There will be some tickets for sale at the door. Ticket price at the door is $40 - Cash ONLY
Please leave large bags and yearbooks at home.
This event is for MLK Seniors only; no guest waivers or underclassmen are allowed to attend.
Senior Government/Economics Classes were given the following presentation in their classroom. Please take a look for important information.
Graduation - May 28th, 2025
Graduation begins 6:30 pm in the MLK HS Stadium. Please note given the size of our graduating class, we will begin processing to the field at 5:45pm. Due to this, we will pause pedestrian traffic by the H-Portables/Wrestling room. If you do not want to have to wait to pass, plan on getting to your seats by 5:45pm.
Each graduate will be given 8 tickets at the second graduation practice.
Tickets are not for sale - students will be made aware if there are any additional tickets

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ALTER THEIR CAP OR GOWN
Have questions on what you can wear at graduation? Please see the guidelines below as adopted by RUSD.
School provided Cap, gown and tassel.
Cap and gown may not be altered or decorated in any manner. Decorated caps will be taken away and the student may pick it up at the end of the ceremony.
Only school-issued stoles, cords, medals, and tassels may be worn.
The following are approved items: Honor cords, AVID, CSF, NHS, IB, school medallion, Partnership Academies, Heritage, Legacy, State Seal of Biliteracy/Multiliteracy, Project Lead the Way, Latin Honors Stoles, MECHA Stole, ROTC Stole, and military stoles for enlisted students.
MLKHS Club Pins as given by the cub advisor.
No leis of any kind may be worn for the ceremony. Feel free to gift it to your graduate after the ceremony, along with any other personalized stoles you may have purchased or made (this includes any other Honor Society or family-created stole).
Cap and Gown Ordering
When: August-September 2024
How: Students need to fill out the google form located in the Class of 2025 google classroom page. Only the student may fill out this form and they must be signed in to their @riversideunified account to do so.
NOTE: RUSD pays for the cap, gown and tassel package and graduates get to keep them upon graduation. No alterations may be made to the cap, gown or tassel. Cap and gowns will be distributed late April on campus.
Jostens Senior Family Order Night
When: October 2024
Where: ASB
Time: 5-6:30pm
Why: Join us for an open-house style event to ask questions of our Jostens reps pertaining to graduation announcements, Class Rings, ordering additional tassels etc. Seniors will receive order forms on Monday, October 3rd in their government/economics class.
Unable to make it to this order night? No worries! You can have your student bring the order form to campus on 9/13 or 9/14 and turn it in to the Jostens reps. You can also contact Jostens directly or order online. More information is forthcoming in the order packet!
