What are Thinking Routines?

Good thinkers know how to think creatively, critically, and deeply and they know when to apply these thinking skills. Good thinkers are in the habit of observing, analyzing, and questioning.  


Incorporate thinking routines into any classroom and any content area to help students become better observers, orgainze their ideas, to reason carefully, and to reflect on how their making sense of things.


Thinking routines are flexible enough to be used anytime, with any group of students. 


So, what are thinking routines and how do I use them with my students?


Thinking routines are simple structures, for example a set of questions or a short sequence of steps.
