RUSD will provide this California state-mandated instruction for middle school students in 7th grade. RUSD science teachers will use the Positive Prevention Plus curriculum for approximately ten days. Students that opt-out of this instruction will be provided different videos/lessons for the same amount of time.
El RUSD proveerá esta enseñanza exigida por el estado a los alumnos de escuela intermedia de 7º grado. Los maestros del RUSD usarán el currÃculo de Positive Prevention Plus durante aproximadamente diez dÃas. Los alumnos que optan por no participar en la enseñanza no tendrán acceso a los videos de Positive Prevention Plus y se les proveerá otro video para la misma cantidad de tiempo.

Parents/guardians have the right to opt their student out of receiving this instruction. If you do not want your student to participate in this instruction, please check the box, sign, date, and return the bottom portion of the Opt Out Form found below to your student’s teacher.
If you would like for your student to participate in Comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV Prevention Education, you do not need to complete this or any other form.

Objectives:
Define and distinguish between short-term and long-term goals
Explain the connection between daily decisions and achieving goals
Identify challenges to achieving short-term and long-term goals
Recognize the brain's role in goal-directed decision-making
Identify resources that support healthy actions

Identify pressures from peers, media, or society
Recognize that not all students participate in high-risk behaviors
