The Chemawa Middle School Counseling Department strives to meet the Academic, College and Career, and Social/Emotional needs of our students. Along with meeting with students one on one and in small groups, counselors provide school wide guidance lessons and activities through classroom presentations. Counselor created interactive EdPuzzle lessons about transition to middle school including tips to be successful. Students participated through PE classes.
Counselors visit students in Language Arts classrooms to introduce themselves, explain the middle school counseling program and discuss goal setting.
Counselors created an Edpuzzle with tips and strategies to teach students how to study and maximize study time. Students completed the Edpuzzle through history classes.
In commemoration of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, counselors created an Edpuzzle called Choose Life for students in all Science classes.
Counselors conduct class presentations with students to help explain and identify anxiety. Students are taught techniques to manage anxiety.
Counselors engage students through class presentations to define and identify bullying. Also, students are taught how to deal with bullying situations. Students are given the opportunity to sign a no bullying pledge.
Students receive information about college, financial aid, A-G requirements, college athletics through fun and interactive classroom lessons throughout the College Kickoff week in October.
Counselors visit students in the classroom to explore careers. Each student takes a career assessment. Counselors review assessment results with students.
Counselors teach students study skills and organization techniques through class presentations.
