Three years ago the Musical Theater class, taught by Mrs. Christina McDermott and Mr. Ron Guise, class was introduced. The formation of this class sparked the idea in woodshop teacher Mr. Craig Reifler to usher in set design and construction into his Wood 1 and Wood 2 elective classes.
Starting during the third quarter of this school year, the first set design and build project was introduced. Students in Mr. Reflier’s Wood 2 class were given the choice at the start of the quarter to continue the class as usual and create their own project or work on two major set pieces for the Drama Club spring musical, "Mean Girls".
Students who choose to build the sets are now working alongside Mr. Reflier to build the base for the two sets, while the stage crew handles the painting and operating, once the pieces are completed. Set design and build is not yet its own elective class, rather it is a subcategory of woodshop. But the introduction of set design gives students another opportunity to both help the Drama Club stage an amazing show and develop real world skills in the process.

Members of the 2023-2024 Riverside Ski Club have been getting out on the slopes. Since opening day on December 17th, members of the Riverside Ski Club have been spending time at Montage Mountain and enjoying the wintry conditions. Whether skiing or snowboarding, the slopes have been a popular spot for members of the Ski Club.
On March 4th, the Ski Club will be running a trip to Belleayre Mountain in Highmount, New York. According to the resort's website, there are 18 miles of open trails. The average snow depth on the slopes ranges from 30 to 65 inches.
