Friday, September 11, 2026 - September 11 Remembrance at 7:20 AM in front of RHS (RMS/RHS choir only) - Attire - Red, White and Blue business casual. (Will be done by 7:30 AM)
Thursday, November 12, 2026 - Veterans Day - Students will sing at 5PM (RMS Choir Only). Attire - Red, White and Blue business casual.
Wednesday, December 2, 2026 - Caroling on Chick Fil A - Concert time - 5PM (RMS Choir Only), RMS call time 4:50PM. Attire - Holiday Gear.
Friday, December 4, 2026 - Christmas in Riverside - 6PM (Choir Only??). Choir Members will sing at the tree lighting. Attire - dress warm!
Wednesday, December 9, 2026 - Winter Choral Concert - Concert time - 7PM, RMS call time 5:30PM. Attire - Riverside Gear and/or black/dark clothing.
Wednesday, December 16, 2026 - Winter Band Concert - 7PM - Not required for members of RMS Choir.
Thursday, February 11, 2027 - State of the District Dinner - 4:40 to 6:00 (arrive at 4:30) RMS Choir Only - Attire - Riverside Gear, The dinner and presentations will start at 5:00 and the RMS Choir will perform throughout the evening. This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
Wednesday, March 3, 2027 - Spring Music Trip Permission Slip and Payment Due Date and Deadline (The trip is not required.) (RMS Choir Only)
Thursday, April 15, 2027 - ArtFresco Festival - 4PM to 6PM, performance time and call time to be determined. Attire - Riverside Gear
Wednesday, May 19, 2027 - Spring Choral Concert - Concert time - 7PM, call time 5:30PM. Attire - black bottoms and Music Shirt (shirt will be provided.), Doors will open at 6:40.
Saturday, May 22, 2027 - Spring Music Trip - TBA (Not Required). Attire - shorts and Music Shirt (will be provided.) (RMS Choir Only)
Tuesday, May 25, 2027 - Spring Band Concert - 7PM - Not required for members of RMS Choir
Friday, June 11, 2027 - RMS Marvel Awards - Awards at 12:30PM (RMS Choir Only), call time 12:15PM, Attire - shorts and Music Shirt (will be provided.)
Wednesday, June 16, 2027 - RMS 8th Grade Promotion - 6PM (RMS Choir Only), call time 5:45 PM, Attire - business casual.

About chorus and why you should sing

Singing in a choir is a unique experience. Together, a group of people create something that is new and cannot be replicated alone. The RMS Chorus practices how to sing together and improve the overall sound by learning proper breathing, posture, diction, dynamics, timbre, pitch, rhythm, tempo, intonation and so much more.

Singing is one of the most physical activities you can do. (See the full article here) There are all kinds of exercises you can do to strengthen your singing voice, but cardio and physical exercise offers the following benefits in particular:

Increases breath stamina
Improves cardiovascular strength and endurance
Improves muscles tone
Stimulates your endorphins
Helps you sing clear and higher with less strain
Boosts energy levels and overall emotion

In addition to the physical benefits, the RMS chorus will be learning to sight sing. This is when you are able to look at a new piece of music and are able to sing it without hearing what it sounds like first. Here is an article all about sight singing.
