About Mr. Gorelick
My name is Mr. Gorelick and I am one of the Middle School Math Teachers as well as the Middle School Choir Director for the 2025-2026 school year.
Before joining the Riverside Faculty, I graduated in 2014 from Rutgers University with a Bachelors of Arts with concentrations in music and education. I then completed my teacher certification in two subject areas: Middle School Mathematics and Music for all grade levels. I was previously a part of the Cherry Hill Community as both a long term and daily substitute teacher for four years teaching 6th and 7th grade math as well as general music. Then I joined the Junior High School team as the Math teacher (Grades 6, 7, 8 and Algebra I) at Assumption Regional Catholic School in Galloway, New Jersey from September of 2017 to December of 2018.
I joined the Riverside Middle School Faculty in January of 2019 as the 7th Grade Math Teacher. In the 2021-2022 school year, I began teaching one section of general music in the middle school along with being the 7th grade math teacher. In the spring of 2022, I was approached about teaching additional music classes and middle school choir, splitting my duties between the math and music departments, as a part of the ARP Act in order to allow room for an additional math teacher to join our faculty as well as helping expand our performing arts department. I jumped at the opportunity and am enjoying working in both departments and with more students! In the spring of 2023, the Riverside Board of Education approved to permanently fund the split position of a part-time math teacher and part-time music teacher, so I will be teaching courses in both departments from now on.
In addition to teaching, I have served as the Creative Arts Teacher Leader, leading the visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts and cosmetology team from July of 2023 to June 2025. This team planned the first ArtFresco Festival in April of 2024 and was excited to bring it back again in the Spring of 2025. I also serve as the adviser for the Riverside Chapter of the International Thespian Society - Troupe 11434, which I founded at Riverside in May 2024.
In the past few years, I served a Middle School/High School Drama Club Adviser (serving as the director and/or vocal director for The Lion King Jr., Elf Jr., The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Aristocats Kids, Beauty and the Beast Jr., and Finding Nemo Kids) and an Adviser for BLAZE, the Middle School Yearbook for 2022 and 2023.
In the 2025-2026 School Year, I am also serving as an IXL Ambassador - one of only 3 in the state of New Jersey. I have proven to IXL that I am an IXL expert and that I use IXL creatively and effectively.
In my free time I love to cook (I am slowly writing my own cookbook), play Mario Kart, take care of my many potted plants, play with my cats and my favorite thing: eat!
I have enjoyed every minute of being a part of this wonderful community. It is my goal to provide a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment where your child has the opportunity to excel - academically, emotionally, and socially.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at sgorelick@riverside.k12.nj.us. You are the most important people in my students’ lives, and I want to make sure your child gets what they need to grow as a learner for this school year.
