In 2018, River Edge Public Schools adopted a new learning model: “What I Need” (W.I.N.) This model follows the New Jersey Tiered Systems of Support (NJTSS). In this learning model:
Each class’s schedule includes a designated support period called W.I.N.
W.I.N. is for all students. Classroom Teachers, interventionists, and enrichment teachers work collaboratively to provide targeted instruction on specific skills during the W.I.N. Period.
There are several Periods of W.I.N. throughout the year.
Each Period focuses on a skill for approximately six to eight weeks.
Students work with several teachers throughout the year to ensure their academic needs are met.
Groups are flexible. For example, a student might work with an interventionist for one, 6-8 week period, and then work with a classroom teacher for the next period. This is entirely based on data and teacher recommendations.
Students who work with an interventionist or enrichment teacher receive a letter on the Genesis Parent Portal.
Students who work with our interventionists will receive a Progress Check by the end of the W.I.N. Period. This is posted on the Genesis Parent Portal.
