Our Aim
We are training to support other students in the school through our mentoring project.
We came up with our slogan as all our class names are based on Rivers (lower school), Seas (upper school) and Oceans (Post 16)
Evey, Jamie , Kieran, Cerys
In class, we do a wide range of things to support our students, such as; making tasks easier, physical tasks, reading and writing, helping them to engage, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
We have supported in different lessons such as; PE, Maths, Music, Literacy, Forest School.
Every week we participated in the Post 16 Mentoring Programme, where we learnt the important skills we would need to effectively mentor our young students.
Some of the concepts we learnt were; Makaton, different types of communication, safeguarding, confidentiality, creating strategies and action plans.

Our Meeting with SENDIASS
On the 24th of November, our group had a meeting with two of the top people from SENDIASS. The two representatives visited our school because they wanted to see our Post 16 Mentoring Programme. They asked us a variety of questions about the range of students we have at Riverbank, what classes we support, what topics we have covered and the activities we support in. We then asked them questions about their job roles and responsibilities they have and how it could link with our roles at Riverbank.
On the 19/1/22 we met with representatives from Hereward College and Coventry College.
"Knowing that the younger ones are looking up to you" - Jamie Farndon, Post 16
"Showing and demonstrating what is wrong and right" - Cerys Maunsell-Stewart, Post 16
"Setting a good example" - Christopher Salamino, Post 16
We believe it is important to set a good example because others will copy and follow your behaviors. They could learn valuable skills that would benefit them for the future.
We now have our own uniform and lanyard
